Just Purchase A Different Product – Cheap Antivirus Software Review

December 31, 2011

There’s no better proof than running the trial version for yourself. BE WARNED, this is not protection for 3 PCs for 1 year unless you install all 3 PCs on the same day. It worked on two of my computers running XP and Windows 7. It completely killed my computer running Vista.

And I totally take it for granted. But that is how it should be with an antivirus program.

I would never use another Internet Security program other than Norton. This program has never inter-feared with my computer settings like other security programs have in the past, and I always end up going back to Norton Internet Security. You can continue working on other programs with minimal intrusion while a scan is in progress because Norton AV doesn’t bog down your computer like a lot of the other AV programs (of which BitDefender must surely be the worst offender). A Full System Scan performs a scan on critical areas as well as files on local drives, mapped network drives, and removable drives. In previous generations the software would still function, you just couldn’t get any new updates to your virus definitions, etc. But if you let your number of days count down to zero and boot up your computer the next day, Norton won’t load. Well my performance is now noticeably slower but still within reason. After a day or 2 my CPU settled back down to about 1% on idle and only an additional 10% of my memory. Why pay when there are free options? Norton performed better on removing and preventing threats.

I am writing this after owning this product for exactly a year. So I have had plenty of time to adapt, learn, and use the product. With previous versions of Norton, I have occasionally had to supplement the coverage by using additional tools such as Hijack This and AdAware. Since having the 2010 version installed, Norton has done a stellar job of keeping my home’s computers free of the many malicious programs lurking out on the internet. I decided to purchase Norton Internet Security. What a step up from McAfee! Overall, it is still a great piece of software for protection against internet threats, but password management and parental security may not be Norton’s forte. Well, after a few month of beta testing I guess it’s time to give everybody my opinion. I did not see any difference, and deleting temporary files and all cookies in IE wiped out my entire saved log in info, which was a minor pain. One point raised by others. Norton Internet Security – 1 User/3 Pc We have purchased Norton for several years and found this product to be the best value for the price. It’s great, especially since it can be used for multiple computers.

To update via Norton runs 20 dollars or so more and is done by download. Buying this CD from Amazon gives you the CD in hand, always a nice thing to have.

Just as a side note, it was cheaper going to Amazon and purchasing the 1 user, 3 PC disc, than it was going to the Norton web site and renewing online. LANDSCAPING BLOCKS.
