The Canidae is a better product in my opinion anyway. I asked the pet supply store owner, and she said in her years despite the negative reviews, there may be 2-3 bags have ever been returned in her store. Maybe it just doesn’t work the same for everyone’s dog. Anyway, my kids are very active for their age and doing great on Canidae and Felidae.
His stools are also much firmer and way less stinky than before. This food seems like a real winner for us. We have a small Border collie mix and she absolutely loves this food. I feed it to her in a Buster Food Cube Large Size (Colors May Vary) and she can’t wait for mealtime every day!
They clearly have a dangerous quality control problem. I tried many different types of dry food for my picky eater, a cavalier King Charles spaniel.
My Papillion was at the proper weight but still getting 1.5 cups of Flint River a day. We decided to switch foods and after much debate we chose Canidae.
Too bad, it once was a superior product. I originally bought this as a replacement for Science Diet’s I/D as it was always much more expensive than anything else out there. And despite what a few reviewers have written, the chicken and beef used in the pet food, while not “organic”, is “natural” and raised without hormones and antibiotics. Also, the beef is free-range and range fed with no hormones & antibiotics. It is clear something changed and I believe it clearly is no longer as organic as it once was…we are on the hunt again. I am not saying it does not have good quality ingredients…but if you have a dog that is highly chemical sensitive…this likely is not for you. The ingredients go on to list additional herring meal, vitamins, probiotics (for good intestinal health), natural preservatives and supplements like amino acids and calcium to name a couple. Beforehand, Riley was less than excited about meal time.
All mammals have gas, it is a fact of life, and to think you can prevent dogs from gas is crazy! I feel terrible for the dog owners that had sick pets. When I found the Newman’s own I hit gold. My dog loves it, he licks his bowl clean, and best of all it is good for him.
Product arrived exactly as described. I would purchase again from this company. You can imagine the diet she had; Burgers, fries, ice-cream, and the cheapest dog foods on the market. No, she wasn’t crazy about Newman’s dog food when I switched her to it.
When I compared the contents of Newman’s to her brand (which was suggested by a breeder) there was NO comparison. Newman’s Own is far superior.
